Most health insurance companies cover testosterone therapy for men who meet specific criteria. This helps make the cost of treatment more affordable for our patients. Without insurance coverage the cost of a month’s supply of medication typically ranges from $30 to $40 depending on the pharmacy.
We are considered out-of-network with all insurance companies in the State of Washington and we can assist you with understanding your insurance benefits and potential insurance coverage.
As Naturopathic Physicians, we are considered Primary Care Doctors in the State of Washington and can write prescriptions for medications including testosterone injections. We are typically more affordable to see per visit compared to standard Medical Doctors.
Affordable Cash Options
We offer an affordable cash option for patients. Patients doing testosterone injections typically pay about $160 per month on average for visits, lab testing, and medication. The cost will vary from patient to patient depending on the level of care required.
Your first visit includes a free lab test to check your testosterone levels and insurance companies generally require that we check your testosterone levels in the early morning on two separate days. If another doctor has already done your lab testing you may not need additional lab testing from us to get started.
If you have had your testosterone levels checked in the past then we may only require that you get your testosterone levels checked once and this is included with your initial visit cost.
The first visit is $190 and we are currently including lab testing to check your testosterone levels with your first visit for free.
Before we are able to start testosterone therapy we also need to check your prostate specific antigen (PSA) level, which is a blood draw related to prostate health. This is basically just to get a baseline.
If we see a big increase in your PSA down the road that can be a sign of a prostate problem. If your primary care doctor has checked your PSA in the past year we can skip this test. We charge $30 for the PSA test.
After you get started on treatment, we typically see our patients every 3 months for a follow up visits and blood draws. The average cost for the visits and blood draw is $250-$400.
In summary, the average cost per month is about $150 and we can assist you find medication at an affordable cost. A 3 month supply of testosterone injections, hcg, and anastrozole is usually about $150. Therefore, Most of our patients doing testosterone injections at home can expect to pay about $150-$200 or less on average per month for medication, visits, and lab testing.
Your cost will vary depending on your frequency of visits and lab testing. Our treatments are flexible and patients who wish to have more frequent visits are generally able to do so. Patients who are at higher risk may need more frequent visits as well.
In Office Injections
We also offer the option to have us do your testosterone injections in clinic. This may be covered by your insurance but if it is not the cost is about $50 per injection which is about $200 per month additional cost when the injections are administered by one of our doctors. Patients injecting their testosterone at home can expect to pay as little as $30 per month for testosterone injections from their local pharmacy.
